Randy Radford started in the cattle business in 1978. He purchased his first Purebred Polled Charolais cattle in 1979 and entered the business of supplying genetics to other producers. In 1984, Randy married Carla and together, they raised two children, Kandace (Kevin)and Clint. Faith and family are the most important things for the Radfords and they hope God willing that some day their children and grandchildren will live on the Ranch.
In 1995, he purchased his first Red Angus Genetics and developed a small herd. Impressed with the maternal genetics of the Angus breed he focused on increasing the herd with these genetics.
In 2005 the Radfords took a Holistic Management course and re-set the direction of the ranch; a move towards raising their cattle with environmentally and economically sound practices.
The ranch, located near Roblin, Manitoba (west central) consists of 400 plus mother cows with an Angus genetic base. The cattle are grazed all year long with either grass grazing or bale grazing; a practice that reduces manure buildup and restores the land. All of the herd management and grazing techniques used are to improve the fertility of the land and the health of the animals.
“We feel truly blessed that we have been given the responsibility to feed our children, community and country with wholesome nutritious food.”
